The Ship on the Shore

Seafood is the main passion here and if you couldn't tell from the restaurant's name and the nautical charts with wooden oars that add a charming décor, the menu certainly will confirm it. The Ship on the Shore should be the first port of call for any seafood lover in Edinburgh.
The friendly, warm ambience that accompanies the lovely views of the Water of Leith all adds to the impression that this is one of the best quality restaurants in the city. Professional service ensures that diners are kept especially happy and the old wood interior and stained glass windows give the Ship on the Shore a touch of seafaring elegance. It's the food that will really leave you with extremely pleasant memories however.
Each dish is hearty, flavoursome and well portioned made from ingredients are meticulously and ethically sourced. Particular highlights are the big flavour of the Cullen skink, the sumptuous steamed Shetland mussels and the monkfish on the bone which just melts in the mouth and the standout Fruits de Mer Royal Platter. Top marks are also given for the extensive wine and champagne list.
325-331 Leith Walk

La Favorita has become the symbol for the best pizzas in Edinburgh. The first thing to appreciate as you walk in this modern pizzeria is the chef hard at work, kneading and folding the dough, the essence behind the greatness of La Favorita. Cooked in authentic log-fire ovens, the pizzas arrive with all the smoky, bold flavour that you'd expect from any really great pizza joint.
The freshly baked bases are what really set La Favorita apart; crisp without being brittle, just the right chewy texture that more than equals the loaded toppings. You instantly get the sensation that true love and attention has gone into your pizza's construction, from the drool inducing cheeses, zingy sauce to the adorning feast of meats.
Although pizzas are the star attraction, the starters are delightful, the choice of mains is varied and are always packed with fresh, memorable flavours and La Favorita's desert menu complete with an exceptional cheeseboard is absolutely delicious provided you still have room. To wrap things up very nicely, remember to stay just long enough to try their true Italian espresso, a Ristretto.
The King's Wark
The cosy authentic pub isn't just a atmospheric, charming place to share a friendly drink on the Leith waterfront, The King's Wark manages to also manages to be a fantastic restaurant too! The adventurous menu on offer is such a refreshing change from the typical choices you would find in most other pubs.
What is more surprising is that for hearty food of this quality the value for money is outstanding. Superb, robust food is a constant from The King's Wark kitchen. The menu consists of seafood that is as fresh as can be, almost as if it was delivered from the sea the moment you ordered it. There is a great array of more conventional livestock cuts, each bursting with succulent, seasoned flavour and as well as plenty of rewarding game dishes, all beautifully presented, waiting to excite your taste buds.
The King's Wark stone walls, open fire, rich dark wooden furniture and bustling, delightful atmosphere marry so well with the high quality of the food. Oh and did we mention, they serve some of the best crackling to be found in Edinburgh!
An incredible reputation precedes one of Leith's, slickest, sophisticated restaurants, The Kitchin justifiably earns with exceptional and ultimately dazzling food. A meal at the Michelin-starred establishment is an experience from beginning to end.
Rare for a restaurant bearing the name of the head chef, Tom Kitchin can still be seen creating gastro-masterpieces, that in itself is a testament to the passion that The Kitchin abides by. The mantra of 'Nature to Plate' is evident in the excellent local sourcing of ingredients and the results can be seen and of course, tasted in the food.
In the bright, elegant dining room, The Kitchin is perfect for a special occasion, a real treat for any lunchtime or evening pleasure. The textures and flavours of all the dishes are something to savour, The Kitchin turns out nothing but exquisitely presented, outstanding food. For a restaurant of this quality and reputation, naturally, there is the menu scale and reservation length to match. However, if you are lucky enough to book a table, it's a delight you won't soon forget.
